Imperial Sand Dunes Recreational Area

These pictures were taken from I-8 and CA-98 about 16-20 miles west of Yuma, AZ. We even drove out to some of the RV parking sites. Semicircle parking was very popular for large groups.

The Coachella canal can be seen in some of the pictures. Most of the large canals in AZ and CA have stripers, black bass and catfish in them. Pan fish don't last long because all of the afore mentioned fish eat them.

It had rained and there were desert flowers in bloom everywhere.

This is post #6 in this series. All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Uinta National Forest

During our visit to this beautiful National Forest we were traveling with our friends, Don & Betty. We had charted out our trip from our summer campgrounds in New England To Southern California and were about a week or more behind schedule when we crossed into UT from WY. (Hunting for wild horses near Rawlings, WY had slowed us down). You can see in the first picture we appear a little chilly at the UT welcome center.

The link is active and all of the pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.

When entering the forest there is a bubbling stream along the roadway. Once the road starts climbing the stream goes the other way. The winding roadway leads to overlooks and other places to stop and take pictures. Near the park exit road we found a ski lift in operation for a ride up into the mountains where picture taking was excellent as you will see in some of our pictures below. As we exited the park there was a small park village with places to eat and rest from the trip thru the park.
